Congratulations to both our middle school and high school teams for winning regional reserve champions in 2024!
The Interscholastic Equestrian Association is a nationwide organization that sanctions horseshows for 4th through 12th graders. Participating in the IEA is great for so many reasons, but here are the main ones:
-Horses and equipment are provided at the horse show so riders do not need to own their own horses. Appropriately skilled horses are placed in each level and riders are assigned at random draw. Each rider is assessed on their equitation and ability to ride the draw they have been assigned.
-Horse shows are reasonably priced. Regular season shows cost between $65-$105 depending on how many classes you ride in.
-There are competitive options for all levels of riders.
-It allows riders to be on a team and build lifelong relationships with their teammates.
-IEA uses the same format as the Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association so riders are prepared if they choose to ride in college.
-Most of all, it is a great way to challenge yourself as a rider. Can you really ride? Ride a horse you’ve never met, in a saddle you’ve never sat in. Put your skills to the test!
What do you have to do?
1. You need to own proper hunt seat show attire.
2. Take at least one lesson per week from either Kristi or Lauren and participate in Team Practice each week.
3. Join the IEA – Membership is approximately $60 per year.
4. Participate in team fundraisers and team events.
5. Be ready to face challenges, work hard, and have fun!
